The SmartMotion Catalyst is a hardtail electric mountain bike designed in New Zealand with the on-road/off-road conditions found in New Zealand and Australia in mind.

It makes a great bike for getting to work through the week and then hitting the trails on the weekend. It is a hardtail bike so don’t consider it a full mountain bike, but the hardtail improves its performance on the road.

Racks and lights are easy to take on and off the bike depending on the use.

The controller display for the bike is built into the frame and includes a USB port. The USB port lets you use the bike battery as a backup to charge your phone.

This bike doesn’t have a chain guard or mudguards, so it isn’t really suited to be a daily commuter if you’re worried about your clothes when riding.

It does have excellent visibility in traffic though with both front and rear lights, and an LED flood light strip attached to the front downtube.
